The term "locks of love" now has an other meaning. I can reference "locks of love" to the romantic tradition of keeping a lock of hair belonging to a loved one, tied up with a satin ribbon. Now the ancient Chinese custom and throughout the world today, officials are mystified about what to do with all the love padlocks that are finding their way on to bridges, fences and other public places. Lovers, friends and families are engraving special messages, names and dates onto the love padlocks and then affixing them to the structures. In China today, the love padlocks can be found on nearly every fence and pole near Huangshan (Mount Huang).
